Shioriko Shinokawa (Haru Kuroki) is a retired librarian who owns a used book business in Kamakura. She is extraordinarily enthusiastic and knowledgable about books, although she is reserved when not discussing books with others. A clerk named Daisuke Goura helps her out at work (Shuhei Nomura). He has a rare medical ailment that prevents him from reading books. Shioriko Shinokawa informs Daisuke Goura one day that a mystery man has targeted her valuable book and that he intends to destroy it.
