Lights Out
Lights Outside was a highly popular American old-time radio system, an early example of a system chain devoted to the supernatural and terror, pre-dating Suspense and Inner Sanctum. Versions of Lights aired on networks, from January 1934, occasionally to the summer of 1947 and the series made the transition.
At a collection of 4 specials, produced and broadcast, NBC Television attracted Lights outside to TV in 1946. NBC asked Cooper to create the script to its premiere,"First Person Singular", that will be told entirely from the viewpoint of an unseen murderer who murdered his obnoxious wife and winds up being executed. Variety gave this first installment a rave review ("definitely among the best dramatic shows yet seen on a tv series"), but Lights Out did become a regular NBC TV series until 1949. - Less
