When young Jack moves into his late grandfather's house, he inherits the old man's dog, Skipper (Norm MacDonald), who has the ability to communicate with him. With the assistance of the snarky pooch, Jack discovers that Grandpa has buried a rare Spanish treasure someplace in the town. The valuable booty is located by Jack and a group of intelligent neighborhood kids-a goth girl, a socialite, and an irreverent jokester-with Skipper as their guide. But will they be able to evade the bold and bumbling criminals who would stop at nothing to capture the treasure for themselves?
