Tammy moves away from the Mississippi River to attend college, where she develops a romantic relationship with Tom Freeman (John Gavin). This is the third Tammy film, and Sandra Dee takes Debbie Reynolds' position as her co-star. Beulah Bondi's Mrs. Annie Call and a new theme tune, "Tammy Tell Me True," are both introduced in this film.. Ultimately, Mrs. Call moves in with Tammy and is the trigger for events in the following film, "Tammy and the Doctor".
