At a future in which most water has vanished from the Earth, we look for a set of children, mostly teenagers, that live in an orphanage, run by the rulers of the Earth. The group in question is quite great and plays with a hockey based game on roller skates. It has given them a unity that exceeds the efforts to bring them by the federal government to heel. Obtaining an orb of power, they find it has effects on them. They escape from the orphanage (on skates) and try to cross the wasteland looking for a place they are able to live free since the storm troopers search for them and also the orb.
