Michael Long, an undercover officer, is shot while investigating a case and left for dead with his assailants. He's rescued by Wilton Knight, a wealthy, dying creator and millionaire that arouses life saving surgery, for example a new identity and a brand new face --that of Michael Knight. Michael is then supplied a special automatic and indestructible car known as the Knight Industries Two Thousand (known as KITT), and also a mission: apprehend criminals that are beyond the reach of law. The show depicts Michael's exploits as he and KITT battle with the forces of evil for Law and Government.
